I just got my first press release as a blogger today. Funny thing is it immediately reminded me of how, as a journalist intern 11 years ago, I used to spend a couple days a week taking press releases and turning them each into 2 to 5 inches of filler for the paper’s Features section.
But today’s press release is truly noteworthy:
Lunametrics is now a Google Authorized Consultant - Congratulations go out to Robbin Steif, CEO and one of the most active people I know in the Promotion and Education of Web Analytics. If you haven’t checked out their site or Robbin’s blog with many great tips and tricks for the web analytics beginner, I highly recommend you do.
Speaking of some of the other ‘most’ active people I know, there are also a couple new books to check out:
Which Sells Best: A Quick Start Guide to Testing for Retailers by Bryan Eisenberg and Anthony Garcia of FutureNow, Inc. Having read “Call to Action” and “Waiting for your Cat to Bark“, I don’t really need anyone to tell me their new book is worth a lot more than the $15 dollars it will cost you to download a copy. But if you need a little extra convincing, Eric Peterson also speaks highly of it on his blog.
Web Analytics: An Hour a Day by Avinash Kaishik. Avinash is (IMHO) one of the best bloggers and presenters in the Web Analytics space today. His personable style and topical approach to issues result in posts that are insightful and resonate common sense backed by a wealth of experience. Even more remarkable than the book is the fact that he and his wife are donating 100% of the proceeds to charity. Check out his announcement on his blog, Occam’s Razor.
Last note of the day:
I just finished watching part III of Frontline’s 4 part series “NEWSWAR“. In this part they talk about the move of the news industry to the web. From an analytics standpoint I found it particularly interesting that Jeff Fager, Executive Producer of 60 Minutes and Andrew Baron, Creator of Rocketboom both talked about their web traffic in terms of Stream Downloads and Craig Newmar of Craig’s List spoke of their traffic in terms of Page Views instead of something more telling and useful like Visitors and Visits/Sessions. If you missed it, you can watch it online here.
